My background

I grew up in northern Iran and in 2015 I moved to Hungary. I completed both my undergraduate and graduate studies in psychology at Eötvös Loránd University of Budapest, where I currently live and work.

My work & education

My learning has always been a combination of the academic and the experiential. During my studies I gained clinical experience through internships in a psychiatric ward and a harm reduction centre, and I volunteered as a university counsellor. I have also been attending trainings in Intensive Short-Term Psychotherapy (ISTDP) with audio-visual training and supervision.

Alongside this, my own experience of seeking help has been one of my most important teachers. For me, this process sometimes goes beyond symptom relief. It becomes an ongoing, honest confrontation with the conditions we are all living within.

Outside of work

What I find interesting is that sometimes we forget that mental health practitioners are also human. Which means I too experience unpleasant emotions like everyone. At times I feel sadness and may want to do things that cheer me up, like hiking, dancing and reading - especially about the history of science.
